New Photos - Cherry Blossoms in DC and random co...

My friends and I headed down to DC for the Cherry Blossoms Festival, we saw beautiful trees, got to do some sake tasting, had sushi, and walked several miles. :-)

Then, with my new DSLR which I just got last week, I took random photos with it to try it out, and some are on Flickr.

Enjoy!

I might put some more photos up later from a trail hike my friend and I took on our day off.

Been a long time... Time for a new medium.

So, um... months since I've uploaded anything. Haven't been doing much artwork lately... random doodles. But, I did just get a new DSLR, so it's time to try out photography! I'm gonna try to regularly take photographs, artsy or not, and post Flickr links to them. (And, I'll try to upload random doodles, too... :P )

In the meantime: check out PhotoFocus, a new blog turned online magazine about photography run by Scott Bourne, a professional photographer and teacher.

More 7th Street Chalkboard...

So, like I said in yesterday's post... gonna put more stuff up.

Here's the October and November 7th Street Cafe chalkboards that I did:

So, they're not the best pictures, but oh well. Enjoy.

It's been a while...

Well, I've been insanely busy this semester. Just a never-ending bombardment of labs, projects, exams, and homework... But, I've finally found some time to check in on some old art blogs and it rekindled my desire to produce and post stuff. So, even if they're doodles, I'm gonna try to post something once every week.

7th Street Chalkboards

I've been meaning to post these up... sucks being busy. These are the chalkboard drawings I made for February and March at 7th Street Cafe, the coffeehouse on campus that I work at. The first one is the February one (if you couldn't tell by the Valentine's theme... =P ).

Here's a close-up shot of the little Woodstocks I added on in there...

This one is the March chalkboard. I was going for a more artistic approach rather than the random floating text that people normally do. So, there are tons of trees, kinda like you're going through a forest. And, amid the leaves of the trees, the flowers spell out the words "7th Street Cafe."

Here's a close-up of the flowers that make up the text:

mock MVA

Hola, everyone (i.e. the maybe 2 or 3 people who actually look at this). So, been pretty busy lately, but I still found time to doodle a little during a meeting. For SERV, our annual mock motor vehicle accident (MVA) is coming up next month, so we're planning and preparing. So, last night we had a training committee meeting to iron out the rescue and EMS crews for the scenario. While we did that, I did this:

Um, I originally hadn't planned on any of these to look like anyone, but the smaller cartoony one ended up like my friend Jorgey. And, the other one doesn't resemble anyone that I can think of... Anyway, both are black ballpoint pen.

EVOC

Yeah, so it's been a while since I've doodled or really drawn anything... But, now I have a couple things I can post because 1) I got to do the chalkboard at 7th Street Cafe and 2) I was really really bored in EVOC - Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. So, here's what I ended up doing for most of the almost four hour class... =P

Yeah, it's a little disproportionate and whatnot... the left eye, not your left, looks a little weird... And, I originally started with those two shaded circular thingies... and somehow progressed to the face... So, the shaded parts really make no sense. =P

I'll post something with the chalkboard drawings when I get a chance to actually take pictures of it. From what I've been told, all the girls think it's sooo cute. =P
